Killing Eve Scoops 3 BAFTAs
The hugely successful and revered drama series Killing Eve, directed by Park Village’s Harry Bradbeer received no less than 15 nominations in this year’s prestigious BAFTA Television Awards including Best Director and Best Drama series.
On the night Killing Eve, created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, came out on top at the 2019 British Academy Television Awards, scooping 3 gongs including the coveted Best Drama series, best leading actress for Jodie Comer, and best supporting actress for Fiona Shaw.
Harry is no stranger to awards as he was the lead director on The Cops which won the BAFTA for Best Series two years in a row. Harry’s other notable work includes The Hour for which he won a Le Reflet d’Or, No Offence, Granchester for ITV/WGBH Boston and most recently Fleabag for BBC/Amazon which has been nominated for over 20 awards.
On receiving his BAFTA Bradbeer comments, “It was incredible to wake up and find myself nominated for two BAFTAs, including Best Direction which was a first. And winning for Best Series was kind of surreal. That award weighs a ton, but the adrenaline when you pick it up makes it feel as light as a teaspoon. It’s sitting on my shelf with the statue from Fleabag and they’re getting on very well!”
Bradbeer is currently in pre-production on Enola Holmes, a feature film adaptation of the Enola Holmes mystery novels by Nancy Springer. The Jack Thorne screen play adaptation features Millie Bobby Brown as the lead.
